Detail of stone carving on the street façade of the tomb of Turkan Khatun.
View of the street façade of the tomb of Turkan Khatun. Very little is known about this lady, except that she must have been a noblewoman from the eastern Islamic world making her pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The street façade of this small tomb consists of panels of intricately carved stone panels above a pair of recessed windows divided by a pier. The pier has a dedicatory inscription carved in stone, seen in the center of this photograph.
