An ionic column capital being used as a birdbath at Delphi, likely in the Sanctuary of Athena.
View of a column, sunk into the ground, with its ionic capital carved out and used as a birdbath. This was likely in the Sanctuary of Athena, and could have been the work of some tourist or locals. Since the time of capture, significant efforts have been made to cleanse greek archaeological sites of more recent modifications such as these, so it has likely been moved out of view or stored elsewhere.
Creation date unknown. Photograph processed July 1978. Notes written on the slide or index: Reused Capital.
