Exquisite marble sculpture at the Sanctuary of Demeter. -MA
One of the most exquisite finds at Eleusis, the intricate carvings covering all four sides of the sarcophagus depict several mythological scenes. The side shown here shows the "Hunt of the Calcydonian Boar," which continues on the side to the left. The opposite side depicts two griffins facing one another, and the right side a greek sphynx. It dates from about the 2nd century CE.

The sarcophagus is now housed under a glass roof before the museum entrance, and has certainly been moved since the photo was taken
