Toledo Synagogues

Abstract

A wall in the Sinagoga del Transito, Toledo. It is one of the oldest synagogues in Toledo (dated to 1356), and one of only three that managed to survive the Jewish expulsion from Spain in 1492. The present image shows Nasrid-style polychrome stucco work and multi-foil arches.

Curator Notes

This slide has the crossed out title "Cordoba". It is also an Ektachrome transparency, a separate Kodak brand from Kodachrome, which composes the vast majority of the collection. The two film types differ in their color compounds and thus present different color balances and fading patterns.
