Description

Although the Friday Mosque at Yazd is dated to Ilkhanid times, the present structure is strictly from the 14th century. This magnificent iwan was added in the reign of Shahrukh, with its minarets ranking as the tallest in Iran. The patterns and decorations are mainly Muzaffarid in origin, but refined considerably by the Timurids.

Curator Notes

Although this mosque originated in the Thirteenth century Ilkahanid period, the present structure is strictly from the Fourteenth century, restored and refined by both the Muzaffarids and Timurids.
