Boar Hunt

Description

Stone relief of elephants charging at the wild boars, on the lateral wall of the larger iwan. The hunt involves Khosrow’s men on elephants flushing the boars out of the marsh. Hunting has been one of the most prized royal pursuits in Iranian history, with depictions of hunts being an omnipresent motif in all arts and media. The site may have been an earlier Parthian hunting ground.
